pLACE: My making space
My own making space:
Since
moving back into my parents home in 2018, Ive gone back to using the
box room (which was my office/studio before I left for Scotland to
study). Ive gone through so many iterations of this room to try and make
it an inspiring place to work - I decluttered A LOT of stuff, bought a
wooden bureau from a charity shop then got rid of it few years later as
it was just too big, I chalk-painted my old MDF table/drawers, bought
new curtains etc. Ive changed as a person internally over the years and
had to streamline the space a lot or I get a bit too overwhelmed as the
box room is also my 'chill out' place in the evenings.

Bit more streamlined studio 2023 |
At this current time, Im feeling a bit claustraphobic in my home space (I spent a lot of time here over lockdown etc) and finding it difficult to make work here as though its convenient to be next to my bedroom, I also feel constricted and when I wake/get ready etc, I feel energised and wanting to get out of the house vs just coming straight to my 'studio' a few steps from my room. Also being in my parents home, can be very distracting. Its been a long journey and still work in progress!!!
